Sibling Squabbling, Competition, and other FAQs, with Jessica Smartt
Sibling relationships for the win!
I am so excited to get to share a true Mom-chat with my friend, Jessica Smartt. I have loved Jessica’s books (find links below!) and getting to know her in real life a couple years ago, and I appreciate her wisdom, conviction, and humor. I think you’ll enjoy getting to know her, too!
In today’s episode Jessica shares three parenting “goals” for sibling relationships, and then we go on to cover questions I have received from Instagram messages and emails. We cover a lot! – From what to do about a mean sibling, to how to handle competition…when parents should get involved vs. when to let kids sort things out on their own, and more! I think you’ll find this practical and helpful. (And I think we’re going to need a part 2! — Let us know if you agree in comments below!)
NOTES:
3 Parenting Goals for Sibling relationships:
1. Peace in our homes. 🏠
2. The hope of sibling friendships for a lifetime. 🥰
3. Nurturing Godly character in our kids. 🙏🏼
Jessica says: “If you can’t be nice to the people inside the house you’re not going to go play with anyone outside the house.” 💥
Book Jessica mentioned: A House United by Nicholeen Peck
VERSES MENTIONED:
Romans 12:10 “Outdo one another in showing honor.”
Psalm 133:1 “How good and pleasant it is when brothers live in harmony.”
Jessica has been on the podcast a couple of times before! Listen to those episodes here and here!
