Hi Friends! Today Becky Keife joins us to talk about something I'm pretty sure every mom relates to...whether she says it out loud or not. :) It's a question that I know I have wrestled with at various times in my parenting journey: AM I THE RIGHT MOM FOR THE JOB? I mean, surely another Mom could do a better job with these crazy boys!? Becky, who was raised mostly by her mom and alongside only sisters...was caught off guard by her three "spirited boys". She
Hi Friends! Quick question: What do you run to when you hit the afternoon slump? When you're stressed? Bored? Celebrating? Or anxious? I think we all have something we are inclined to reach for when the going get's tough... Well, no matter your answer, I'm so excited to share today's podcast episode with you! In today's episode, Wendy Speake and I talk about the heart of her brand new book, The 40-Day Sugar Fast, which is about

I love October for so many reasons, only one of which is the return of all of the comfort foods! I'm not great about following seasonal food rules (I could, and do -- eat soup year -'round) but I somehow feel good knowing it's legit time to start making hearty, warm, wintery foods. Yay! Since this Shepherd's Pie recipe has been making the regular rounds in the Swanson household lately, I thought I ought to share it with you. LENTIL, VEGGIE, SHEPHERD'S PIE: There could
The power of praying for our sons, with Brooke McGlothlin. Aloha! I am so happy to share today's episode with you! My friend and guest, Brooke McGlothlin, joins me to chat about praying for our sons. After praying specifically that God would give her sons, Brooke felt completely unprepared for the "250% boy" - boys that He gave her. This brought her to her knees, and changed her life, from the inside out. Many of you already know about Brooke
Today I have Wendy Speake back with me for part II of our Q & A series! We touch on some challenging topics which I think will be practical for a whole lot of moms out there! From siblings who just do NOT get along, to helping a boy make better health choices, to technology (every mom's favorite topic...not! :)) Wendy and I dive in deep, and try to offer as much practical help as we can! NOTES FROM THE EPISODE: Catch up on PART I of our Q&A from last week
Hey Friends! Today I am sharing the an Aloha Friday Episode...which will be the last Friday edition of the podcast for 2019. In it I'm sharing WHY this is the last Friday episode. ( mostly because I'll be spending much of the next 2 months traveling with my son Luke for surf contests -- and all the FUN details are in this episode!) Today's topic is drawing from a blog post I just published, which was inspired by time reflecting on my oldest sons and all I have
25 Things I've Learned from Raising my Four Boys Considering the fact that I'm still such a young thing (wait, why are you laughing?) it's hard to believe that two of my four sons are now adults. I mean, legally grown ups and all that. I couldn't be more proud of the young men they are in this season. I treasure who they are, but oh the ache in my heart for every moment we have shared along the way. Last summer, shortly before my oldest packed his bags for his
