You’d be happy to know that we’ve unloaded every box of holiday decorations, and it looks like the North Pole here in our North Shore home.  (Or maybe like someone threw-up Christmas in our living room.)  My boys won’t settle for “some” decorations, we-must-have-ALL.  And everywhere.  More on that later this weekend.

Right now, I’m here to finish what I started this week in my excitement over homemade magic shell.

And sure enough–We’re on our fourth batch of the stuff in just over a week.  And even as I type those words, I’m not sure if I should be admitting it.

But really, I can give a good explanation for the multiple batches of magic shell.
It’s called Frozen chocolate bananas with sea salt.

And I’m in love.

With a freezer full of bananas, I was pretty excited to happen upon Ali’s recipe for these.  (Ali’s are prettier, but I’m pretty sure ours tasted just as good. :))  This is pure brilliance!  Obviously, chocolate and bananas are a match made in heaven, and with that sprinkling of sea salt on top…Oh hello.

Not shown: A batch where I coupled the banana with a big fat marshmallow on the stick, then dipped that double-decker in chocolate.  The kids thought I was really swell then.  (Except they don’t use the word swell, that just slipped out from somewhere in my childhood.)

(Kind of like my sparkly finger nail polish…)banana and chocolate

Making these is such a breeze!  Here’s how you do it:

1.  Make a batch of homemade magic shell, and let it cool to room temperature.
2.  Cut 3-4 bananas into bite-size pieces, and place in the freezer for at least three hours.
3.  Poke the banana pieces with a cocktail fork or toothpick, and dip into the magic shell.
4.  Add a pinch of coarse sea salt to each dipped bite, and return to freezer until you are ready to serve!

This may be about as GORMAY as I get for the holidays…Because really.  Right?

We have our second round of house guests for the week arriving this afternoon, (which is super rare, and super fun,) so I’m off to fluff pillows (ha,) and attempt various methods of making my house smell as if it weren’t inhabited by five boys.

Lots of love to you all–

I have been loving frozen fruit lately, and bananas are one of my favorite. Add some chocolate and sea salt, and that sounds just about perfect.
