Our Families were Made to Move Mountains {Episode 51 with Kristen Welch}
Today I am sharing an interview with someone I have been a fan of for years. Kristen Welch is the woman behind the popular blog, We Are THAT Family (great name, right?) as well as the author of some of my favorite books, like: Raising Grateful Kids in an Entitled World: How One Family Learned That Saying No Can Lead to Life’s Biggest Ye*s and Raising World Changers in a Changing World: How One Family Discovered the Beauty of Sacrifice and the Joy of Giving.* (I highly recommend both!)
Kristen is also the founder of Mercy House Global, a non-profit organization which funds maternity homes in Kenya, helping pregnant girls in extreme poverty. In 2014, Mercy House began a new phase to help empower and employ thousands of women all over the world through Fair Trade Friday.
So, yeah — Kristen is a busy woman! I’m so grateful she was able to take the time to join us for a chat about raising a family with a global perspective, and the mountains God allows each of us to face. Kristen describes two kinds of mountains: those we long to climb because of a dream we hold, and those that we would never choose to climb but are forced to because of disasters that come along the way. (If the Pandemic just came to mind, you’re not alone.) Kristen’s wisdom and perspective should be a huge encouragement to all of us!
