North Shore Video Tour
This one is for all of you North Shore lovers…Anyone who has either visited the North Shore of Oahu, and could use a little trip down Memory Lane…OR
Those of you dreaming of taking a vacation over here.
IT’S JUST FOR YOU.
Last weekend the groms and I headed out on a Three Hour Tour…(Which of course ended up being a FULL DAY tour–Thanks Dave for keeping Levi all day! ) Josiah planned a route across the North Shore– beginning in Haleiwa town, and ending in Kahuku. We stopped at some of our favorite spots–from beaches, to food stops (yes–I sacrificially ate my way across the NS!) to the Bike Path, landing at Turtle Bay Resort. We wish we could have included more. But we got tired. And full.
Hopefully you can catch the map at the beginning and twice throughout the video…It shows you the path we took, covering approximately 12 packed miles of coastline.
**Some of the features you’ll see (in order,) are:
Coffee Gallery and the North Shore Marketplace, Waialua Farmers Market and Sugar Mill, Haleiwa Beaches, Boat Harbor, and Old Historic Bridge…
Then on to Waimea Bay (and rock,) Sharks Cove, Famous Bonzai Skate Park, the bike path, and Pipeline Beach….and finally on to…
North Shore Fruit Stand, Kahuku Shrimp Truck, Local Shave Ice Stand, and Turtle Bay Resort–showing lagoon, hotel, spa area, surf waves, and pool and bar.
Hope you enjoy!
This video will be archived under my NORTH SHORE FAVORITES tab (on top menu bar,) so please remember to pass it on to friend’s who are planning to go to Oahu!
A few of the random iPhone photos I took along the way…
If you’ve been to any of these places, I hope you’ll comment with a memory or two…
Much Aloha,
Grommom and groms
(and special thanks to Josiah for his fabulous videography, and editing work.)
I love this North Shore post! I have been to Hawaii about a dozen times, but I always want to explore the North Shore more. Our next trip is going to be with our 1-1/2 year old so it’s definitely going to be a different, but fun, experience.
Mahalo nui Monica!! I just happened upon your blog this morning and was so happy to see that you are from my home island!!! We are living in MS right now and missing home so much, so this video was food for my soul. I went to school in Waialua and my grandparents are at the chicken farm on NS. I’m sure you know which one! Thank you for sharing. Love and blessings.
LOVE this tour and the choice of Jack Johnson songs to go along with it! I should have watched this before our visit over Christmas! We rented a house directly across from the marina in Haleiwa. We also really enjoyed Christmas Eve service at your church. We loved seeing so many in board shorts! Very relaxed atmosphere. Reminded me of our church here, EPIC community church. Silent Night sung in Hawaiian topped it all off! As soon as your worship team finished my daughter turned to me
and said “now that was just awesome”. Can’t wait to come
back! Hoping to be there
permanently this summer! Mahalo for sharing!!
Love the Donovan F song also! Good choices!
Wow so many great memories. thanks for posting the video Monica. This Aussie needs to get back there. Matsumotos shaved ice and the Shrimp truck with the graffiti all over it. Snorkling with the sea turtles….I loved it. thank you.
Wow! Lovely tour, thanks for sharing! It’s WAY out of my reach, but maybe someday… if I could ever find those ruby slippers…… lol
This is simply awesome. I don’t think there’s anything much better than having “the insider scoop” from a local resident. We have been seriously considering a vacation to Hawaii next year but in the preliminary research were overwhelmed by trying to pick just one island to visit. I think we now have our answer. 🙂 Thank you for sharing!
What a fun video! I have shown it to my whole family and it brings back memories of our recent trip. I cannot believe ll you did in a day. The natural beauty in the ocean and the fruit really amazes me!
Corrine, thank you for sharing your story. I’m also very sorry for your loss, but it sounds like you had a very meaningful experience there.
I’ve never been to Hawaii but have always dreamed of it–and this video is confirming that I need to make the dream a reality!!!! I literally feel more relaxed just having seen it! Great photography, scenery, music, and subjects!!! Thanks!!! 😀
Ah! Thanks for the fix! My two brothers and I were there in ’09 bucket listing as one of them was battling brain cancer. We drank coffee outside that shop surrounded by roosters and then took him paddling under Rainbow bridge surrounded by honu. We paddle our SUPs up river to the rope swing and he watched us from the water. Such a great trip. He passed away one month later. It was four years ago last week. Xo
Oh Corinne, I have goosebumps all over after reading that. What a story. I’m so sorry for your loss, but love hearing about the amazing time you and here on the North Shore. I cannot even imagine losing a brother like that. I would love to see a picture of all of you….If you happen to have them, it would make me smile!
Thanks so much for commenting. It really made my day. Aloha
Thank you for putting this together, we truly enjoyed it and didn’t want it to end.
Great video. Loved the songs too! Artist and song title please:)
I just want to come visit you so badly! I think we could have a pretty awesome time 😉
That was great!! Obviously having lived there I know all those places, but I was drooling while watching and saying out loud…what were we thinking about leaving that place….dumb move, but hindsight….lol
When you started out with a three tour I was waiting for “the weather started getting rough…..”
Awesome!!
