Jean has a long history pouring into kids with learning challenges and discovering the genius in many kids who might otherwise be labeled for their challenges. She is curious about kids, and encourages US TO BE CURIOUS, TOO. (I love that!)
Another thing I love about Jean is her story! She spent 20 years working as a reading strategist, then stayed home to raise her own kids. When her kids were grown, she found herself asking: “So, what’s next!?” That’s when Jean decided to use her knowledge and experience to help PARENTS who are in the thick of it, raising kids with learning challenges. A little more about Jean…
Jean Harville is an online reading strategist who helps moms nurture their struggling readers into confident readers using effective reading strategies through her signature system 6 Step Read and Understand Framework. Jean is a certified special education teacher with 20 years of experience working with elementary level students who struggled with reading turning them into confident readers. She worked in various settings from the public schools, private schools, and specialized clinics where she learned cutting edge strategies that helped strengthen her teaching skills. Jean earned her Master’s degree along the way and just recently became a certified Reading Interventionist. Thank you Monica for having Jean on the show! I love your podcast (and book and blog). I have 2 sons who have dyslexia and navigating the educational system system is a full time job! I have learned so much about the joys and heartbreak of dyslexia. I am passionate about uncovering the stigma and shame that kids with learning differences suffer from at the hands of not only educators but also parents whoโs comments wound then deep (even when unintentional).
