What is Christian Deconstruction? (And how should we respond to it?) with Alisa Childers

The destructive movement that every Christian parent should understand.

Hey Friends. This week’s episode is one I wish every Christian parent could listen to. Alisa Childers is back with me to talk about a movement called “Christian deconstruction” which is sweeping through our culture, our churches, and (maybe especially) our universities. It is confusing and complex. It is leading young people away from the church and dividing families. Though there are many different definitions of deconstruction, Alisa helps us understand, Biblically, the nature of deconstruction, and offers a truth-centered, loving way to respond to it.

I first heard of the term “deconstruction” from my two sons who attended a Christian college, and told me of friends who were “deconstructing” their faith. These students came from families who raised them in the church, and thought their kids’ faith was secure. (My heart breaks for them!)

My hope is that this conversation might help more parents understand the deconstruction movement, and be inspired to raise their young kids to be critical thinkers as they develop their own, rock-solid faith (and thereby never consider the need to “deconstruct.”) If any listeners have family members or friends who are already “deconstructing”, I hope this interview offers wisdom and hope.
