Every Boy is Unique! Personality Types and More with Heather MacFadyen {Episode-94}
Aloha Friends!
I received such positive feedback from the recent birth order series on the Podcast (see episodes 90, 91, and 92) and it made me just want to keep the conversation going. When it comes to being students of our kids, we could have endless conversations! I thought it would be fun to sit down (virtually) with another boy mom and just chat about a few more of the ways we can understand – and therefore parent, our sons better! Heather MacFadyen, host of the Don’t Mom Alone Podcast (and four-boy-momma!) was the first person to come to mind, and I am so happy she could join us!
Heather and her husband Bruce have used the StrengthFinders test and since I don’t know that one well, I asked Heather to give us a briefing on it. (Now I want to learn about my whole family according to Clifton’s Strengths!) Heather and I also touch on Love languages, and the Enneagram. While Heather and I do not endorse any of these as a spiritual authority or guide, they can certainly be helpful tools in understand our families better. I hope you feel like you are sitting down over coffee chatting with Heather and I! Find links to anything we talk about below!

Quick personality-type notes:
Strengthfinders… 34 personality types: Discover your top strengths, or get more in-depth results to see where you rank on all 34…
each personality type falls under one of 4 domains:
1. Executing
2. Influencing
3. Relationship Building
4. Strategic Thinking
5 LOVE LANGUAGES: (how people most naturally communicate and receive love…)
Words of Affirmation
Quality time
Acts of Service
Physical Touch
Gifts
9 Enneagram Types (named by number: 1-9) help us understand the lens through which a person sees themselves, others, and their circumstances. Where you land can vary depending on how healthy or stressed you are. (lots to this, though we just scratched the surface.)
3 Enneagram “stances” as explained by Beth McCord:
1. Aggressive (types 3,7,8)
2. Dependent (types 1,2,6)
3. Withdrawn (types 4,5,9)
In the future — I’d love to talk more about any of these, plus: MYERS & BRIGGS, and others. Got a recommendation? Please comment below! 🙂

More about Heather:
Heather MacFadyen has been married since the turn of the century (sounds more impressive than it is). She is the mother of four young boys (born exactly, to the day, within 6 1/2 years . . . just like she’d always planned). She hosts “The Don’t Mom Alone Podcast” weekly interviewing fellow journeyers on the topic of motherhood. Her heart is for moms to know God’s great delight over them; how He sees the unseen eternal work they do every day. And through mentorship, friendship & discipleship to remind gals that they “Don’t Mom Alone”.
