Friends! We have officially made our way through all of the topics from Boy Mom here on the Podcast! I hope you have enjoyed them all. It feels a little bittersweet to be moving on, but of course I’ll be referring to the book allofthetime, because it’s like my fifth son now, and also — it’s applicable to so many topics we’ll be covering. If you’ve missed any of the episodes, be sure to scroll through the archives and catch up!!
The fun thing now is that this means TODAY begins a new season here on the Boy Mom Podcast!! We get to now free dive off into all kinds of other boy-raising topics. Hooray! I’ve been receiving your requests (thank you!) and we have so many exciting, interesting, encouraging, and FUN topics ahead of us!
Ready to get started!? Let’s do it!
Today we kick things off with a topic that so many families deal with, whether in small or more significant ways…We are talking about raising boys with sensory processing issues. It’s such an interesting and helpful conversation, and I am thrilled to be interviewing a friend, fellow podcaster, and mom to four boys…Heather MacFadyen!
Heather’s background is in speech therapy which has provided her with professional experience working with sensory processing disorders. But even more, Heather has explored this topic personally and for her own children. I think her experience will be an encouragement to all of you!
Heather’s (just-published) podcast episode with Lynne Jackson (on sensory processing issues 🙂 )
Book we have both recommend: The Out-of-Sync Child: Recognizing and Coping with Sensory Processing Disorder
Heather’s Favorite things:
Mini (indoor) Trampoline: Little Tikes 3′ Trampoline – Amazon Exclusive
Febreeze Car Fresheners (at Costco or here –> )Febreze Car Air Freshener, Set of 5 Clips, Linen & Sky up to 150 Days
What Makes the MacFadyen family laugh: STUDIO C comedy.
Heather’s friend’s clothing company: Hey Honey Clothing.
LOVE Heather’s wisdom to younger boy moms at the end of our conversation:
— How not being in control is “a gift.”
— and “Don’t squelch their little-boyness…”

More about Heather:
Heather MacFadyen has been married since the turn of the century (sounds more impressive than it is). She is the mother of four young boys (born exactly, to the day, within 6 1/2 years . . . just like she’d always planned). She hosts “The Don’t Mom Alone Podcast” weekly interviewing fellow journeyers on the topic of motherhood. Her heart is for moms to know God’s great delight over them; how He sees the unseen eternal work they do every day. And through mentorship, friendship & discipleship to remind gals that they “Don’t Mom Alone”.
As always, your comments are welcome here. Got a question for Heather or I? Leave it below! Have some experience dealing with sensory processing? We’d love to hear about it. We’d also be thrilled if you shared this episode with your friends and family. You can always use the social media icons below to share as well!
Thank you for listening and for leaving rating and reviews wherever you listen! It means so much to me. See ya back here in a few days for another ALOHA FRIDAY epidosde!! XOXO
