Becoming the Prayer Warrior Your Kids Need, with Brooke McGlothlin

Practical encouragement for being a praying mom.

We do a lot for our kids, but nothing is more powerful or effective as praying for them. Yet, many of us feel intimidated or inadequate in our prayer lives.  Life is busy. We are tired. What is the best way to pray for our kids?

Brooke McGlothlin is here to help!  In today’s episode she shares her unexpected journey to becoming a praying mom, and steps that anyone can take to elevate their prayer lives. I love her focus on praying Scripture for our kids, and I’ll be including a few of the prayers from her book, Praying Mom, below. A Prayer for when your child needs help:
Isaiah 41:10 “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (ESV)
Father, I love _______ (your child’s name) so much, and my fears feel out of control. Help me place my trust in you. You are my God, and I need your touch. My strength is failing, but yours never does. Strengthen me now, help me, and uphold our family with your strong hand as we walk through this trial. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for when you need more joy:

James 1:2-3 “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.” (ESV)

Lord, it isn’t in my nature to be glad when trials come, but I want to be steadfast, trustworthy, and useful to you. I want my life to be a beacon of hope and a testimony of your grace and goodness. Help me to trust that even this trial is overflowing with your purpose for the building of your kingdom. In Jesus’ name, amen.
