Jonah and Taylor’s Wedding!

A heap of photos and some favorite memories from the very best day!

Jonah, Taylor, and her family planned and hosted what seemed to me to be an ideal wedding. I legit think it was the best day of my life! There is so much I could say about the ceremony, reception, and all the details, but I’ll simply share five of my personal highlights below!

1. The venue was stunning and peaceful, and the owner of the property was onsite all day, and such a joyful, incredible host! God provided a heat wave so my fear of being cold was for nothing. 😉 It was truly an ideal location!
2. The ceremony was so heartfelt, and God-honoring. Jonah and Taylor had a private vow ceremony before the wedding, which means they could simplify the public ceremony. This gave the Pastor a chance to give a truly meaningful and inspiring message and kept the service brief, but beautiful.
3. Jonah and Taylor led a worship song during the service (My Living Hope) and wow, that was probably most people’s favorite part about the whole day. It was incredible!
4. The reception was just perfect. Not a lot of extra. There were a few speeches, a father-of-the-bride and mother-of-the-groom dance, as well as an “anniversary dance” that narrowed down married couples by how long they’ve been married until only the two sets of grandparents were left. (both married over 60 years!)(And yes, my dad not only danced that one but stayed on the dance floor for a couple more songs!) And then it was just FUN, wedding party dance music. We danced all night! The food was also excellent, and the white lights and decor were just elegant and beautiful!
5. A final personal highlight — I LOVED the sparkler send-off. Partly because it was just such a fun (and sparkly 😉) way to end such a great day, but also because of the part that Jonah and Taylor did NOT see. — As the bride and groom exited through all the sparklers, the worship song “Praise the Lord” was playing. The couple made it to Jonah’s jeep, and they drove off, but there was still some sparkles left in the sparklers, and the music was still playing. This is when the entire crowd just stood and sang along with the lyrics…”Praise…the Lord, O My Soul” together in this holy moment of bonding. It felt like a time of unity where we were all standing behind the new couple, even when they had already departed. It’s hard to put into words, but I loved it!

❤️ We are so grateful to the Storti family who worked so hard to put this wedding together and, even more importantly, have raised such a loving, wonderful daughter. Taylor’s folks have made Jonah — and all of us — feel so loved, and it is a blessing to share this new married couple with them, even across the miles! (We always told Jonah to get to know a girl’s parents because they will always be a big part of your life. He did well to score this family!!)

A few of Jonah and Taylor’s reflections: First, they put a lot of time, prayer and effort into preparing to be married. Premarital counseling, a marriage class, and so many books and podcasts! That was key to building a foundation before the wedding day! Also, they say that though there was a lot of work (and a fair bit of stress) in planning the wedding, they were able to truly enjoy their big day and didn’t feel stressed the day of the wedding. Their coordinator was amazing, and all of their vendors worked out so well. One favorite part of the ceremony for them was gathering with their wedding parties before the ceremony for a time of fellowship and prayer before the ceremony. Josiah (the Best Man) had all of the guys affirm Jonah and pray over him, then sang some hymns before the ceremony. Taylor also had a sweet group of bridesmaids cover her in prayer. And, they add (and I agree) having my Dad there was one of the greatest blessings of the wedding!

Jonah and Taylor loved leading worship together in the ceremony, and they had so much fun dancing as a couple and with all of those at the ceremony. (Seeing Taylor dance with all of her new brothers was a moment we’ll all remember forever! )
