How Jesus Changed my Sons’ Lives. {Episode 49, with Josiah and Luke}
Hi Friends. It’s Holy Week, and though none of our Easter celebrations will look like what we’re used to, I hope your family is having a meaningful week. These are difficult times, to be sure, but I think we all can find much to savor and celebrate anyways. Most importantly, God is still on the throne, and Jesus’ death and resurrection were real, historical events which hold radical implications for all of us.
I am enjoying seeing the creativity of churches and ministries during this unique time. Our church is joining many others in encouraging members to post a short testimony on social media, using the hashtag #jesuschangedmylife. We are hoping that when someone clicks on that hashtag they will see an endless stream of personal testimonies. How encouraging!
Here on the Boy Mom Podcast, I wanted to dedicate this week’s episode to this idea of how Jesus changes lives…and specifically, the lives of our children….even kids who have been raised in the church. Because, sometimes, kids who grow up in Christian homes mistakingly believe that they don’t have a “testimony.” They might feel like they’ve always been a Christian. Because their story doesn’t sound as dramatic as others, they might hesitate to share it.
Yet, every person who has put their faith in Jesus( at any age,) has a faith story worth telling. So, with this in mind I invited two of my boys on this week’s episode to share how Jesus changed their lives. Even though they have gone to church and read the Bible since they can remember, they both have stories to share. I hope your kids might get to listen and be encouraged.
I also took a moment at the end to share briefly how Jesus changed my life. And there is no doubt, He continues to change me all the time…

Hello, I’ve really been enjoying your book and podcasts. Thanks for sharing!
I especially like the idea of giving my son a “character education” assignment each day. Can you (and your boys) share some of their favorite go to’s for content?
My son is 13. Im searching for outlets that will interest him in this subject area. He’s similar to your boys in some ways… athletic (hockey player), knows the Bible well for his age, really into art, nature, and animals…
Many thanks!
Hi Carrie! Great question — and one I get a lot! 🙂 Since it’s been years since we began this with my son, the list would look different today. I am super excited b/c my husband and I are currently working on something special related to this — and I’ll be announcing it very soon. Stay tuned! (a current character resource list will be included!) Blessings and thank you so much for taking the time to comment!
