  1. We love split pea around here! I modeled my recipe off of a restaurant in Solvang, CA ( a Finnish town) called Anderson’s. After adapting a copycat recipe until I thought it was a dead ringer. The first time I met my now in-laws I brought it to the party and my FIL commented that it tasted like Anderson’s split-pea w/o me even mentioning the inspiration. I was surprised he even knew of the tiny town or the restaurant and took it as a good sign! We live outside Chicago! He was the best and the biggest fan of my soup creations. For variety, I sometimes add barley- yum! Can’t wait to try your recipe w/ kale! Thanks.

    1. Shannon–I totally know Anderson’s! So great! You should probably be sending ME your recipe! 🙂 What a compliment from your FIL! Barley is good in everything too–big fan here. Thanks for stopping in!

Pinning for sure. I try to make a big pot of something on Sunday nights to save for the week ahead, this is perfect! 🙂 And the heartier the better for my teenagers too! Have a good weekend Monica!

Split pea soup is our favorite! I always make it with ham too, but only because that is how I learned. I’d love to try it vegetarian style since we are trying to cut a lot of meat and pork out of our diets. Thank you!
