Spring fever is in the air! I’m seeing Facebook posts with kids taking their “first spring bike rides” to school, and pretty much everyone with bigger smiles, and a contagious expectancy of happy days ahead.
God knows how much we all need a little fresh air and sunshine in our lives.
Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, I remember Spring Fever well. We’d get those random weeks of sunshine and 70+ degrees in April and bust out the shorts and T-shirts, flip-flops and sunglasses. (the old school self-tanning lotion wasn’t a bad idea either.) We’d eat school lunch outside and the mood was high…Until the next week, when the storm clouds blew in, the temps dipped into the fifties and a low-grade depression sunk in on us all…Haha, it was still worth it just to have a little sunshine and a reminder that:
SUMMER IS COMING!!
Well, believe it or not:
We get spring fever in Hawaii, too.
I know some people imagine that those of us who live in Hawaii just enjoy a summer life all year round. And, yes there is some truth to that. But really, the longer we live here (it will be fifteen years this summer!) the more we feel seasons in the air. I’ve mentioned before that our seasons are largely based on the tidal patterns and the swell…Fall and winter = big waves on the North Shore, and by late spring and summer our North Shore gets flat, and we have to travel alllll the way to the South Shore (it’s at least an hour drive!) to surf the “town waves.” But the fun part of summer here on the North Shore is that the water is glassy and warm, and great for snorkeling and diving. There is a different vibe in the air then, and we love it.
And just like people everywhere, come April and May, we are all getting anxious for SUMMERTIME!
So when a box full of Reef sandals showed up on our doorstep, it only fueled our spring fever fires. Everyone found a perfectly fitting pair, and I was set up with something I’ve been wanting for a long time: Women’s water-friendly sandals Sandals good for hiking, water, and just wearing around. I will love these on my trail hikes that include some river crossing!
The boys were equally stoked with their comfy slippers (or flip-flops if you must.) Reef has a large selection of sandals, and some super cute shoes too. (They also have a great clothing line!)
