Aloha from Maui!

Luke and I are on day three here, getting ready for the surf contest on Saturday and Sunday.
We flew on the tiniest plane ever (yikes!) over Molokai and Lanai, and landed safely (thank God!) on Maui. It was a beautiful flight, and I could have enjoyed it more if I weren’t so focused on faking like I wasn’t having a panic attack. Let’s just say I was happy when that plane landed.
We are staying at the Pioneer Inn which sits literally right at the Lahaina Boat Harbor, where the surf contest is held. Luke has been surfing for hours each day, getting comfortable with the break here. As more and more of the kids file in, it has become a big gromfest out on the water. And when they’re not surfing, they are in and out of pools and up to all sorts of tomfoolery…
Here are a few pics from our flight and our time so far…
I did not ask to sit this close to the pilots. I don’t NEED to see your screen, guys.
I could literally hear their conversations! This was actually a good thing because they seemed very relaxed, which almost convinced me that were not in a state of emergency the entire flight like I thought. 😉
Landing!!!! HOLD ON EVERYONE!!!
(that was close.)
Lahaina Harbor, beauty. This is how my days are starting: 6:00 AM I
stumble stroll down from our room with hot coffee in hand to watch Luke. I’m pretty sure I’m embarrassingly pretty because my son then acts like he doesn’t know me. (Haha.)
Luke with Maui grom, Eli Hanneman. Remember that name. He’ll be a pro one day.
But then again, Luke may be right by his side…:)
The bummer: I’ve been missing my little Levi like crazy. Every time I see a baby or a toddler my heart just aches for him. Which is so frustrating because he has been such a
pain in the butt handful at home lately that i was really looking forward to a break from him! 😉 Now I just keep thinking things like: Why don’t I hold him more? I can’t remember what he was like as a baby! Did I nurse him long enough? Is it too late to have one more?
Then I remind myself that I’m here with Luke…Who is JUST NINE…and this is my time to really enjoy HIM.
(Fortunately he’s pretty easy to enjoy!)
This is what Luke leaves on the table when we eat at a restaurant.
(He says he’ll do that for the rest of his life. Not a bad plan…)
We’re really enjoying the beauty all around us here.
Hello purple starfish. I love you.
Lahaina sunsets are the best.
Alright–off to video one more surf session…
