I’m so tired.
I’m leaving for California in the morning, and it’s already been such a long anticipated journey. I was just telling a friend that I feel like there were so many things to arrange and organize, and so much I had to do before I could go that I’ve been operating on low-level anxiety for a few months now. But the funny thing is–Half of the stuff couldn’t even be done until a day or two before I left town. It just hung over my head and made me crazy. So, though I’m absolutely pooped right now, (and not exactly ready to go just yet,) I think I feel better now than I have in months.
Because this week: I finally got to do the stuff.
And I think I’m really going to enjoy just getting on that plane and going.
So, I had a real blog post about 75% complete that I somehow imagined finishing tonight, but ya know…Writing when you’re half asleep is just not the wise way to go.
So instead, you get photos.
But not just any photos…Photos from Levi’s 5th birthday celebration, and photos of Luke’s exciting 1st place finish at the Local Motion “Surf into Summer” contest at Ala Moana Bowls last weekend.
(Psst: Would it be bragging if I mentioned that he was the reigning champion from last year as well? Or if I told you that he scored a perfect 10 on a wave in his final? Sorry, that just came out. I’m done.)
Let’s just say that this contest was the perfect confidence booster before we take off for five weeks of more contests in California.
But now I leave you with a little peek into our last five days or so. Except fortunately no one took pictures of me madly packing, correcting final exams, or cleaning out closets and drawers (we are doing a house swap for goodness sake! What made me think I could pull that off!?) No, some things just aren’t pretty.
It’s way more fun to imagine that every day is just party hats, slip-n-slides, and shiny trophies…
I’ll be checking in soon from California. I have a few posts nearly completed that I’ll be sharing while I’m away, and of course I’ll have to post some photos of our SoCal adventures as we go, too.
During June and July I also plan to do something I have never done before! I will be picking just a few of my favorite (or readers’ favorite) blog posts from the past, and re-sharing them here. I have a lot of newer readers, so I thought it would be fun to recycle a few posts that a lot of people may have missed.
SO…if you have been around for a long time, I hope you understand…And I hope you’ll read the posts again, and comment again, and share on social media too…because after all…that is what makes my world go ’round.:)
Now I am gladly accepting travel wisdom, or helpful hints for staying sane while traveling for five weeks with four kids…
And prayer: Always welcome here.
