First: a party wave…
(^^another awesome photo by my buddy, Emily.)
And yes to party because it’s October!…easily my favorite month of the year.
Though our leaves are not falling, and it’s not exactly chilly outside, if you know me at all you can imagine I’m creating as much fall in my home as I possibly can. Also the waves are back on the north shore so everyone is happy.
Now…go ahead and rub it in and tell me: What’s it like where you live? Are the colors changing? Is it so pretty? (Or do you, like me, have to create your own fall where you live?) I’d love to see photos of your fall beauty, so feel free to email me some! (using my contact form makes it easy.)
Fall makes me think of snuggling up with a cup of hot cider (or any other festive bevy) and having a good chat, so I hope you’ll grab something to drink and join me for a bit. I’m sharing some of my favorite recent photos, a few bits of newsie news, and links…a lot of good links to keep you busy.
Then it’s your turn to comment and share something from your end. Because: how much fun is a coffee date if only one person talks? (No much.)
–We are taking fall break this week. This essentially means the boys are on break and I’m not. haha. (Something’s wrong with this picture.) I have lots of household/homeschool catch-up to do (I’m looking at you, messy closet) and many writing projects to conquer. Guests are staying with us so I’m cooking big meals and loving every minute of it.
— Super cool: You’ve got to check out this Facebook live video that Joy Forney recently shared. It’s about all that she’s gone through to find peace with food and her body image, AND how my book has played a pivotal role in that. IF you aren’t already familiar with her, Joy is a mom to six, and wife to a missionary pilot living in Uganda. She’s just precious.
–Have you done the recent iPhone updates? I just did and then a friend enlightened me (via text message)on all of the crazy-cool text shenanigans you can use with it…like confetti and bubbles and even gifs of Napoleon Dynamite dancing (because that’s exactly what my text messages have been missing.) The good news is texting now brings me all kinds of childish delight, and the bad news is a simple text message now takes me approximately twelve minutes.
Thanks Apple, I really needed that.
–YAY! I have officially updated my North Shore Favorites Tab…Well, mostly the FOOD section! If you or anyone you know is headed to Oahu, absolutely check it out. There have been a lot of changes in our little community over the past year or two, so this section is critical to a visit to the North Shore. 🙂 **Also–If you visit and discover something great that you don’t see here, please let me know so I can add it!
And while we’re on the topic…
–Fun fact: Hawaii is the only state in the USA that grows coffee. And because I’m always thinking of you, I thought of a great idea: Why not start thinking ahead…and order some HAWAIIAN COFFEE to give for Christmas gifts?! (who wouldn’t love that?) The Coffee Gallery has about the best tasting (and most beautifully packaged!) coffee you’ll find…including locally grown coffees that are roasted in small batches daily right here on our north shore. Their website has been revamped and it’s easy to order all the coffee you need.
I really wish we could all just meet at Coffee Gallery for a cup like this–Mmmm!
Below: Our boys’ favorite new post-surf stop: Sprout Sandwich Shop. The tastiest sandwich combos and the nicest people. The “Floater” with roasted turkey, apple, and melted brie is to die for. (also found on my NS Favorites tab)
A few more recent photos in no particular order.
Some spear-fishing, some hiking, some surfing, and a daily dose of insanely gorgeous sunsets. (For what we lack in the fall season we make up for pretty well I’d say.)
Look, we got a 2016 class photo! And now just realizing that it is the last class I’ll have with all four in it.
(great now I’m gonna cry again…)
Questions I put out on Facebook:
–What’s your favorite TV show? Over on Facebook I shared that I need some help choosing a tv show to start watching this fall. The last show I followed religiously was LOST (over ten years ago?) SO…I’m craving a good show. (old or new, I don’t care.) I got SO MANY suggestions now I just don’t know where to start…
–And a favorite book?...I also went to Facebook to ask for book suggestions. I haven’t read a novel/fiction book in so long, so I asked and again I got such a great and long list. Now I’m even more confused.
There’s still time to chime into the conversation, so add to my overwhelm and make a suggestion if you have one!
Now for some links to keep you busy awhile!
