I hope you had a great Mother’s Day weekend. I’m settled in here in San Clemente with my boys now, and having a super special time already. Though Dave and the boys celebrated Mother’s Day with me before we left, I had a great day here as well. I am thrilled to say the house swap is working out really well. (yay!) We love the home we are staying in, and have two new furry friends as well…
The trip has been more social than anything so far, which I don’t mind a bit. We’ve visited friends, played miniature golf, swam and jacuzzi’d, played on bikes, skate boards, and cruised around the neighborhood in a golf cart (the winner so far.)
The waves have been pretty flat since we’ve been here, so the boys have hardly surfed. A swell is supposed to come in this week….Though unfortunately, (if you haven’t heard…) there have also been an unusual number of sharks in the area over the past few weeks, including one shark attack two weeks ago. Ugh. Of course the surfers all tell us: “Sharks have been out there forever, there’s nothing to worry about. Just go surf!” But I’m getting a LOT of messages from well-meaning people with: “UM…I don’t know if you’ve heard, but there are a lot of sharks out right now. Be careful!”
YES. I’VE HEARD!!! (see fingers in ears and “Lalalalalala.”)
We will be wise, but not fearful. Listening to the experts, and praying plenty.
So, let’s change the subject! 🙂
In other (much more fun news): I FINALLY PLANNED A MEET-UP this week!
Yes, for any of YOU able to drive to San Clemente this THURSDAY morning (May 18th), from 10-12, a few of us will be meeting at ELLIE’S TABLE, across from North Beach. There will be plenty of coffee, and no sharks. I know this is last minute, and I know it’s difficult: You have kids and jobs and lives all the rest, but I’ll be there with a big cup of coffee and I would SO LOVE TO MEET YOU! (check out the website for a very inviting video of all of the goodies at Ellie’s Table here.)
So get your plans together quick, ok!? Call a friend and carpool, reschedule your appointments,
call in sick, take a mental health day, bring the kids (or the dog), and come meet up!
I’ll leave you with some of the photos filling up my phone so far…
